London Heathrow renews ARINC iMUSE contract for Terminals 1 and 3, and awards new contract for Terminal 2

London Heathrow (LHR), the world’s busiest international airport, has renewed its current contract for ARINC’s iMUSE common use system at Terminals 1 and 3 and awarded a new iMUSE contract for Terminal 2.

The contract for Terminals 1 and 3 has been extended until March 2015 by the LHR Airline Operators Committee (AOC). At the same time, an additional contract has been awarded to install iMUSE at Terminal 2, with new equipment to support 378 check-in desks and boarding gates. ARINC will continue to provide ongoing maintenance and support for all equipment.

David P Wilding, Chair of Heathrow AOC’s Shared System Board pointed out that ARINC has built a strong relationship with the LHR AOC, having been providing services to the airport since 1999.

“Terminal 2, which is scheduled to open its doors to the public in June 2014, has been meticulously designed around the needs of passengers – with particular emphasis on enabling them to get to and from their flights as quickly as possible,” he said.

“ARINC’s iMUSE, by processing passengers faster and more efficiently through sharing airport infrastructure and resources, has a pivotal role to play in this objective which is fundamental to LHR’s undertaking to provide world-class customer service.”

Every year over 67 million passengers travel through Heathrow – the hub of the civil aviation world – on services offered by 90 airlines travelling to over 180 destinations in more than 90 countries. The new terminal will eventually service 20 million passengers.

Tony Chapman, Executive Director Heathrow, ARINC EMEA said, “We are delighted to extend and expand our long standing relationship with the AOC and, in particular, have the opportunity to support the opening of the brand new Terminal 2. We look forward to continuing to support the AOC’s efforts of providing the most efficient passenger processing systems possible.”
