Nancy Knipp Appointed Senior Vice President at Airport Lounge Development Inc.
Dallas, Texas, April, 8, 2014 – Airport Lounge Development (ALD), the leading U.S. independent shared-use lounge developer, announced today the addition of Nancy Knipp as Senior Vice President in the company’s executive leadership team. Knipp brings more than three decades of experience specializing in the airline and airport lounge industries. Knipp will lead ALD’s business operations and growth strategy, and joins ALD in advance of the opening of the company’s sixth airport lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, The Club at PHX on April 9th.
“Nancy’s breadth of experience and knowledge of the airport lounge industry is a valuable asset as ALD continues to be the ‘go to’ partner for airports looking to develop, change or re-allocate airport lounge space,” said Steve Pinches, Director of Collinson Group – the parent company of ALD. “Widely popular overseas, independent shared-use lounges are now rapidly expanding in the U.S., enabling airports to enhance their passenger’s travel experience and improve their competitive position.”
Operating since 2006, ALD is now the U.S. leader in independent shared-use lounges offering an affordable hospitality experience for travelers on any airline and traveling any class of service. ALD’s experienced leadership team is known for delivering a turnkey lounge solution tailored to the airport’s needs and supported by an established customer foundation.
“Collinson is very committed to growing ALD’s network of lounges, and the appointment of a senior executive like Nancy, who has more than 30 years of experience in airline and airport lounges, is a tangible example of how we are investing in the growth of this important business.” added Pinches.
Prior to joining ALD, Knipp served more than 30 years with American Airlines, most recently as President and Managing Director for Admirals Club and Premium Services in Fort Worth, Texas. Under her leadership, the airline redefined their membership lounge experience and developed industry-leading VIP products including ConciergeKey and Five Star. Knipp also served as the first female Managing Director of American Airlines’ Japan region and oversaw marketing and sales efforts for the Asia Pacific region.
“The demand for airport lounge access continues to escalate as more travelers on business, on leisure or simply traveling with their families are looking for a comfortable, quiet environment to be more productive on their journey,” said Knipp. “Flyers are clearly expressing interest in a more inclusive experience. As a result, the number of airports implementing and reviewing options for an independent shared-use lounge has grown tremendously in the past two to three years, especially as overcrowding within airline lounges continues to rise.”
With the largest portfolio of independently operated shared-use lounges in the U.S., ALD’s newest lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, The Club at PHX, will feature amenities available at its other locations, including free alcoholic beverages and snacks, complimentary high speed Wi-Fi, work stations with PCs and printers and much more.
ALD’s five other lounges include: The Club at DFW, located in Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport; The Club at LAS in Terminals 1 and 3 in Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport, The Club at SJC, located in Mineta San José International Airport and The Club at ATL, located in the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The Club at PHX opens on April 9th, 2014, marking the sixth Club for ALD.
