AirIT’s Shared Use Passenger Processing System will assist in the optimization of PIT facilities by providing flexibility in assigning and sharing key terminal resources

May 12, 2015, Orlando, FL – AirIT, the leading provider of information technology products and services to the air transportation industry, announces that the Allegheny County Airport Authority has joined the growing list of international airports to adopt its virtualized passenger processing platform technology to deliver facility flexibility and operational efficiency to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT).

PIT chose AirIT’s EASE™ shared use passenger processing technology to gain an increased operationally-flexible environment that would allow a combination of airline dedicated use, preferential use, and shared use resources. AirIT’s Shared Use Passenger Processing System will assist in the optimization of PIT facilities by providing flexibility in assigning and sharing key terminal resources, while also delivering the ability to allow airline carriers to operate in their own native system environments.

Betros Wakim, AirIT President and CEO, states, “Due to the changing nature of airport business environment requirements in the U.S., airports are continually charged with the challenge of doing more with less. Our EASE™ virtualized shared use technology provides the flexibility needed by airport operators today to optimize the allocation of resources required for processing passengers. We are proud to work with Pittsburgh International Airport to deliver the solution that will enhance operational efficiency well into the future.”

AirIT’s EASE™ platform can be implemented at any airport, regardless of size, at a cost far below that of traditional common use systems, which are based on proprietary software and limited to using only the operating systems, computers, and peripherals approved by the system vendor. EASE™ is currently operational at 37 airports in North America.

“As Pittsburgh International Airport has worked to be responsive and flexible to the unique operating needs of each of our carriers, AirIT has helped us enhance the customer service we offer to current and future airlines at the airport,” said Jim Gill, Chief Operating Officer for the Allegheny County Airport Authority. “With new routes and airlines coming to Pittsburgh, we are able to manage our facilities and the look of areas such as ticket counters in a more consistent and efficient manner.”
