12 Aviation Groups Call on FAA to Take Action Against Egregious FBO Fees and Denial of Airport Access
FREDERICK, MD – The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), along with 11 other aviation groups issued the following joint statement of principals, urging the FAA to take action against egregious, hidden fees and denial of affordable access to airport ramp space to park aircraft.
Pilots across America want healthy and profitable FBOs and also:
- Publicly disclosed airport and FBO fees available online
- Access to and from parking ramps on reasonable terms
- Charted and fully disclosed transient parking
- Competition among FBOs where practicable
- Freedom from paying for unwanted services
Egregious, hidden fees drive down traffic and cut off access to important communities. It's time for the FAA to ensure pilots have a right to reasonable access to federally funded airports.
In addition to AOPA, the following organizations co-signed the joint statement: American Bonanza Society, Cardinal Flyers Online, FNL Pilots Association, Glasair Aircraft Owners Association, Lancair Owners and Builders Organization, Malibu/Mirage Owners & Pilots Association, Maine Aeronautics Association, The Minnesota Seaplane Pilots Association, North American Trainer Association, Washington Pilots Association, Women in Aviation International.
