The Bishop International Airport Authority Announces Selection of Deputy Airport Director, Operations and Maintenance

    Following a nationwide search, the Bishop International Airport Authority has selected Nino Sapone, A.A.E., to be the new Deputy Airport Director, Operations and Maintenance at the Bishop International Airport (FNT). Sapone is slated to begin his new role in mid-March 2019.

    As the Deputy Airport Director, Operations and Maintenance, Sapone will report to the Airport Director and in this position, he will plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day activities of all maintenance, operations, engineering, and public safety functions of the Airport Authority. He will also coordinate related activities with all tenants, federal, state, local agencies and other related aviation user groups. As a seasoned airport professional, Sapone brings over 25-years of industry experience to his new position at FNT. Most recently, he served as the Vice President, Airport Operations at Pittsburgh International Airport, where he oversaw all compliance, legal, operational issues and implemented technological enhancements to increase operational efficiency of security, fire, terminal and airfield.

    Sapone holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from California University of Pennsylvania. He is also an accredited airport executive (A.A.E.) through the American Association of Airport Executives and served as the Chapter President for the Northeast Chapter of the organization. Sapone enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
