Opening Our Doors and Hearts to Newcomers; Halifax Stanfield Announces Multi-Year Support for ISANS
The excitement and emotions that build upon arrival at a new destination reaches even greater heights for a newcomer arriving in a new country for the first time. Halifax Stanfield is often the setting for this important milestone and the Airport has an established welcoming program in place in partnership with local immigration organizations.
To further enhance its existing program, Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) is delighted to announce Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) as its newest Signature Partner.
“We’re so pleased to partner with ISANS over the next three years in support of the incredible work they do to welcome and settle newcomers in our communities,” said Joyce Carter, President & CEO of Halifax International Airport Authority. “Supporting immigration is an important part of our business – at Halifax Stanfield, we often provide newcomers with their first impression of Canada. This is a responsibility we are proud of and engage in with enthusiasm.”
The Signature Partnership is a cornerstone of HIAA’s Community Outreach Program. Last year, the Program supported 165 organizations and events with donations and in-kind support totaling over $200,000.
As part of the Signature Partnership, HIAA will provide financial support totaling $75,000 to Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia over the next three years, in addition to promotions and volunteer support.
“ISANS is honored to be chosen as HIAA’s Signature Partner for the next three years,” said Jennifer Watts, Executive Director of ISANS. “This ongoing support will allow ISANS to empower and build upon our client’s skills through programs and services to meet their goals and support. We look forward to working with the HIAA team in creating a community where all can belong and grow, in turn, building a stronger Nova Scotia and Canada for all.”
This is Halifax Stanfield’s fourth Signature Partner. Previous Signature Partners include Dartmouth North Community Food Center (2016-2018), Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank (2013-2015), and Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia (2010-2012).
“Our signature partnership is a key aspect of our broader community giving program that provides funding support and enables our team to volunteer directly with the partner organization,” said Sherrie Clow, Community and Stakeholder Relations Advisor at HIAA. “It’s a wonderful experience for all – our entire team is looking forward to the
opportunity to work with ISANS, strengthening our connection with newcomers in our community.”
