Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Names First Female Assistant General Manager for Public Safety and Security
Jan Lennon has been promoted to assistant general manager for Public Safety and Security at the world’s busiest and most efficient airport.
Lennon, who joined the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport 17 years ago, now oversees regulatory compliance and day-to-day operations of the airport, ensuring the safe travel of approximately 300,000 passengers and 2,700 aircraft operations each day.
As the AGM for the Public Safety and Security team at Hartfield-Jackson, Lennon has operational responsibilities for Atlanta Fire Rescue, Atlanta Police, Security and Safety.
The Baltimore native formally served as deputy security director beginning in 2002. In May 2011, she was promoted to security director. In this role, Lennon led the team responsible for protecting and managing the Airport security program, which includes risk-based security, compliance and enforcement, inspections, access control, security services, physical security, contract management, surveillance, smart security initiatives and risk-mitigation solutions. Under her leadership, the airport has executed numerous security programs, including enhanced background investigations, perimeter protection and a comprehensive employee screening checkpoint.
Lennon represents Hartsfield-Jackson on the Transportation Security Administration’s Aviation Security Advisory Sub-Committee, and she is active in the security practice areas of the American Association of Airport Executives and Airports Council International. In December 2016, Lennon received her International Airport Professional (IAP) certification after successfully completing the Global Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP), which promotes professional excellence in airport management.
