Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Selects New CEO
The Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board has announced the selection of a new CEO for Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Reno-Stead Airport.
“I am pleased to announce the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority has begun contract negotiations with Daren Griffin, of Portland, Oregon, to serve as the next President/CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA),” Carol Chaplin, chairman of the RTAA Board of Trustees, said Jun 17 “Following a four month national search, the RTAA selected Griffin, the current Director of the PDXNext Program at the Port of Portland, as the finalist for this important position in our community.”
Griffin has been at Portland’s airport for 16 years. He has served as the interim director of business properties, the director of operations and the general aviation manager for the Port of Portland. He has also served as the state airports manager for the state of Oregon and the director of Yuma International Airport in Arizona.
When contract negotiations are complete, we will be excited to formally introduce Griffin to the community, Chaplin said.
“As we announce our new airport leader, it is important we honor our current CEO, Marily Mora, for her nearly 20 years of service to the airport, with seven years as CEO,” Chaplin said. Mora announced her retirement last fall and will leave her position when the new CEO is in place. During Mora’s tenure as CEO, RNO experienced 57 consecutive months of passenger growth and added popular flights to New York and Guadalajara as she led the airport’s complete recovery from the recession.
