Mineta San José International Airport Releases Original Songs Promoting Safe and Healthy Travel Habits
Travelers passing through Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) are now reminded to keep six feet apart and wear face coverings by three original songs played throughout the terminals, written and recorded by local recording artist Nick Gallant. The Santa Cruz-based singer/songwriter, who is also a frequent SJC flyer, partnered with Silicon Valley’s Airport to develop these unique, upbeat reminders to passengers and employees about what they can do to help make it safe for more travel to resume.
These new recordings are part of SJC’s significant investment over the past several months in physical and process changes at the Airport to make travel safer in the era of COVID-19.
“By now our travelers and employees know what they need to do to keep each other safe while traveling, so the challenge for us was to find a unique, engaging way to remind everyone to stay vigilant,” said SJC Assistant Director of Aviation Judy Ross. “The better we all adhere to social distancing, wear face coverings properly and wash our hands, the sooner we can all get back to traveling.”
Each of the three original songs are currently played throughout the Airport’s terminal buildings once an hour on a 20-minute cycle. The playlist of songs are also available to stream on the Airport’s website.
“As a frequent SJC traveler before the pandemic who is very eager to get back in the skies, it was a thrill to partner with the SJC team to develop these fun and catchy tunes to remind everyone how important it is that we do our part to make safe and healthy travel possible,” Gallant said.
SJC’s airline partners continue to resume flights as passenger demand returns, including some new service. Earlier this month, Frontier launched new nonstop flights between San José and Phoenix.
