2023 Airport Business Top 40 Under 40: Kenneth Gethers Jr., PE
Kenneth Gethers’ roles in airport infrastructure projects have led to substantial enhancements to the safety, efficiency and capacity of the national airport system. Gethers was the responsible civil engineer for several elements of the San Diego International Airport Airside Development Program. At Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport, he was lead civil engineer for the Runway 5-23 extension design that expanded the service envelope of the airport and permitted non-stop flights to the west coast. In the lead role for multiple projects at Fullerton Airport, he demonstrated his versatility through an on-call engineering assignment that included numerous airfield projects and a conceptual design for the conversion of an existing flight school to an airport administration building.
Since earning his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2010, Gethers, a professional engineer and AutoCAD Civil 3D Certified Professional, has worked at C&S Companies. Progressively, he has played larger roles and serves as a client and project manager in southern California.
In 2022, he was recognized by the San Diego Business Journal Top 50 Black Leaders of Influence.
Something he is especially proud of is being a leader of diversity for the aviation industry and showing kids of different backgrounds another avenue in making a lasting impact in the communities they grew up in.
