Export of Goods Increases Through Iran's Imam Khomeini Airport Customs

Exports of products increased by 58 percent in terms of value through the customs of Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), compared to the preceding year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), said Gholamreza Saffari Taheri, director of customs department of Iran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to Taheri, as much as $862 million worth of products were exported through the airport's customs in the last Iranian year.

Taheri added that some 36,300 tons of products worth $4.8 billion were imported through this airport's customs in the last Iranian year.

"Imports of products increased by 12 percent compared to the preceding year in term of value. The main imported products were medicines, raw materials for the production of medicines, medical supplies,” he said.

The official said that customs revenues amounted to 32.3 trillion rials (about $769 million) in the last Iranian year. This is an increase of 38 percent compared to preceding year.

Taheri said that about 6.7 million people were transported through the airport. Some 3.36 million of them entered the airport, 3.41 million people left the airport.
