An American Airlines employee from Lynn was hospitalized after a physical altercation with a coworker at Logan International Airport resulted in him being stabbed with a Leatherman-brand multi-use tool.

Massachusetts State Police responded to a report of an assault on the ramp side of Terminal B at Logan around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The 38-year-old man from Lynn was alert and conscious and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities.

“Evidence suggests the stabbing was solely the result of the dispute between the two men and that the safety of the public and other employees was not threatened,” state police said in a statement.

Troopers found the suspect, Kenric Smith, 34, of Leominster on the second level of Terminal B and arrested him for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police also found a multi-use tool on his person.

Smith will be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Wednesday.
