Feb. 4—The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for the Myrtle Beach International Airport Saturday due to national security concerns.

Multiple news sources reported that it's due to a suspected Chinese balloon that has been making its way across the U.S. Officials believe the balloon is collecting information on government military operations.

President Joe Biden is considering bringing it down after it is over the Atlantic Ocean, according to the Associated Press.

The balloon was spotted Saturday morning in the Myrtle Beach area Saturday, and it is still be visible this afternoon.

Th administration also closed air space.

Ground stops have also been issued for the international airports in Charleston and Wilmington for the same reason, according to the FAA.

The traffic control measure will be implemented until 3:30 p.m.
