Southwest Airlines already flies from Fresno to Las Vegas and Denver. Next summer, it will be adding a third destination for nonstop flights to its service at Fresno Yosemite International Airport.

The airline announced Thursday that it will launch once-a-week flights between Fresno and Dallas starting next summer on a seasonal basis. The service will launch June 8, 2024, with one round trip each Saturday. The airline did not specify when the seasonal service would end, but Southwest’s online booking tool reflects the Saturday service continuing through at least Aug. 3.

Southwest joins American Airlines in providing nonstop flights between Fresno and Dallas. But Southwest will be flying into the smaller Dallas Love Field airport, which also hosts Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines. American, by contrast, flies into Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, which is one of American’s major hubs and provides connections to many more major domestic and international airlines.

New Las Vegas flight from Fresno

Fresno Yosemite International Airport also reported Thursday that in addition to the new Dallas flight, Southwest will be adding a third flight between Fresno and Las Vegas to its Saturday schedule in the summer of 2024. Southwest now makes three flights each Saturday through Nov. 4, and then will pull back to two Saturday flights, according to the airline’s booking site. It will resume the third flight starting June 8.

“Southwest Airlines continues to meet the air service demands of Central Valley travelers by adding new routes and increasing flight frequencies during peak travel seasons,” said Henry Thompson, director of aviation for the city of Fresno.

Flights from Dallas to Fresno will be taking off at 8:30 a.m. Central time and arriving in Fresno at 9:50 a.m. Pacific time, according to Southwest’s schedule. Return flights will leave Fresno at 10:25 a.m. Pacific and land in Dallas at 3:35 p.m. Central.

Southwest will fly 143-seat Boeing 737-700 jets on the route.

The Dallas-Fresno route is one of 24 new nonstop routes announced Thursday by Southwest.
