Jul. 22—Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) has partnered with local entrepreneurs and G Café Bakery co-owners Christian Festa and Andrea Corazzini to open The Grazing Goat, a new lounge bar located across from Gate 1. The Grazing Goat is the airport's first bar, and Festa and Corazzini also operate a G Cafe outpost at Tweed, offering coffee, baked goods, sandwiches and snacks.

The Grazing Goat offers lighter bites, including a grazing board with cheeses and meats, a serving of Spanish olives with salted nuts, sourdough bread with seasonal flavored butters and plain and Asiago cheese pretzels served with honey mustard. Salads include a burrata salad with arugula and cherry tomatoes, a summer salad with corn, avocado and tomato and an Olivier salad with chicken, potatoes, eggs, peas, carrots, peppers and olives mixed with mayonnaise.

The food menu will feature Mystic Cheese products from Groton and G Cafe's Whole G breads, produced in New Haven, according to a news release. The bar offers beers from Woodbridge brewery New England Brewing Co. in addition to larger international brands like Guinness and Dos Equis.

The Grazing Goat's bar also offers a selection of wines by the glass, hard seltzers and ciders and cocktails, like a "Grazing Mule" with vodka, ginger beer and passion fruit puree, red and white sangrias, a margarita and an espresso martini.

"The Grazing Goat will offer a taste of Connecticut's finest local products with a dynamic seasonal menu, and provide a welcoming and enjoyable space for travelers," Festa said in a statement. "With the unprecedented growth of HVN, we couldn't be more thrilled to showcase what our great state has to offer."

"The opening of Grazing Goat is another significant step in Tweed's ongoing efforts to expand travel services for Connecticut flyers," said Michael Jones, CEO of The New HVN. "We are committed to enhancing the travel experience while supporting local businesses."

The regional airport, served by Avelo Airlines, now offers flights to 26 destinations, most along the East Coast between Washington D.C. and south Florida. Avelo announced three new routes in March, adding Houston, St. Louis and Traverse City, Michigan to the list. In June, Avelo announced the airline would double the frequency of its service between Tweed and San Juan, Puerto Rico's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport for the fall and winter holiday season.

The Grazing Goat will open daily from 10 a.m. until two hours after the last scheduled departure, adjusted for any potential delays, according to the release.
