Family Fun Arrives at O'Hare and Midway with Air Carnival
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and its concessionaires are excited to once again host Air Carnival, a unique program that provides fun-filled entertainment and activities for children this summer at O'Hare and Midway International Airports. Air Carnival begins this week at both airports and will take place every Thursday at Midway and every Friday at O'Hare through mid-August. The activities will occur from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on most dates.
"We are very pleased to offer entertainment for families traveling through Chicago's airports this summer," said CDA Commissioner Ginger S. Evans. "Air Carnival will provide entertainment for children, give parents a chance to relax before their flights and add a memorable travel experience for the whole family."
Air Carnival will feature face painting, balloon sculpting and stilt walkers in the terminals at various locations each week. A variety of other activities will take place on select dates, including musical entertainment, free food samples and appearances by Ronald McDonald, Mr. Potato Head and Anna, Elsa and Olaf from Disney's popular movie, "Frozen". Travelers will also have an opportunity to experience Taste of Chicago at O'Hare's Eli's Cheesecake concession in Terminal 1 on July 29. Air Carnival activities will also be featured at Midway on select Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the summer.
Air Carnival will kicks off June 15 at Midway with a special performance by The Chicago Blues All Stars in the Midway Boulevard food court starting at 12:30 p.m. The band will share selections of Blues favorites with three consecutive 30-minute sets.
