MSCAA Promotes Joe Claiborne to Sr. Manager of Business Diversity Development
The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) announced the promotion of Joe Claiborne to senior manager of business diversity development.
In his new role, Claiborne is responsible for planning, directing, organizing and coordinating the Airport Authority’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, Business Diversity Development, and Small Business Participation programs, which are designed to increase opportunities for minority-owned, woman-owned, and local small businesses. The Business Diversity Development department assists these businesses by providing certification, education, training and outreach services. The area also establishes goals for minority participation for MSCAA contracts.
“Joe is the ideal person to lead our Business Diversity Development efforts,” said Scott Brockman, president and CEO. “We realize that the Airport Authority is a leading driver of our region’s economic growth. Joe will help us to foster that growth by working collaboratively with local minority-owned and woman-owned businesses, as well local small businesses, to increase their participation in the Airport Authority’s bidding processes.”
Claiborne will also work closely with entities such as the Mid-South Minority Business Council (MMBC) Continuum and the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC).
Claiborne has worked as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification Administrator for MSCAA since July 2007, and previously worked as a Supply Relationship Specialist for the MMBC before joining the Airport Authority. He is also a 21-year veteran of the United States Navy.
