Able Services Names Gary Herald President, Building Maintenance

Able Services announced June 22, that it has appointed Gary Herald to president, building maintenance effective June 6. Herald, a 20-year integrated facilities management (IFM) expert, will lead Able’s Building Maintenance division which provides janitorial services to more than 500 million square feet of space nationally. 

“Driving sustained and profitable growth of our Building Maintenance business, both within developed and undeveloped markets, is essential to Able Services’ long-term growth strategy,” said Paul Saccone, chief executive officer of Able Services. “Gary is a proven leader and industry veteran with deep expertise in all facets of IFM. I have every confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and vision to serve our customers and position Able’s Building Maintenance division for continued growth and success.”

As president, Building Maintenance, Herald will serve as a key member of Able Services’ executive leadership team and will oversee more than 13,000 employees located throughout the United States. He will be responsible for setting the strategic vision and plan to drive profitable and sustainable growth within the Building Maintenance business. He will also ensure the effective and consistent delivery of Able’s janitorial and building maintenance services across the enterprise, including performance, process and customer management.

Prior to joining Able Services, Herald was a senior vice president for Sodexo’s Facilities Management Division. In the role, he oversaw the division’s entire North American IFM operations portfolio, which included industrial, healthcare and commercial clients with a focus on the research and development, pharmaceutical, consumer products, manufacturing and high-tech industries. Herald also held senior leadership positions at Crothall Facilities, where he served as President of Facilities Management. Herald has a degree in Environmental and Industrial Engineering.

Herald will be based in Able Services’ Boston office and will report directly to Paul Saccone, chief executive officer.
