MCI Served More than 1 Million Passengers in July

The city of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 1,050,904 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in July, up 3.4 percent from July 2015. For the year to date, total passengers in and out are 6,369,354, up 5.6 percent. July passenger boardings were up 4.0 percent, with a total of 529,929. For the year to date, boardings are 3,193,933, up 5.7 percent.

“Not only was July our second consecutive million-passenger month, it was also the busiest passenger month we’ve had at KCI in nearly a decade,” said Pat Klein, director of aviation. “Our airline partners’ increased capacity this summer with new routes to Florida and California, as well as increased flights to destinations such as Portland, Toronto and New York City. Regional travelers have responded favorably to these service additions.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 3.4 percent in July with a total of 16.7 million pounds handled, and 120 million pounds handled year to date, up 10.1 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during July amounted to 15.9 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 3.2 percent. Year to date, air freight is up 11.1 percent with a total of 116 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for July 2016 was 174. Service was offered to 46 nonstop markets. There was an average of 41,919 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 6 daily departures for July.
