LMT to Hold PenAir Flight Festivities
Oct. 5, will be a day of celebration at the Crater Lake – Klamath Regional Airport as PenAir begins providing daily flights to Portland ending a two-year absence of air service to the community.
“Many individuals and organizations played a role in regaining air service for our community and for their assistance I am extremely humbled and grateful”, states John Barsalou, airport director. “I am confident that the entire community recognizes the need to support PenAir’s new service so that it is successful and remains in place far into the future”. As a show of that support a group of community leaders, including Senator Ron Wyden, will depart on the inaugural PenAir departure from Klamath Falls at 6:40am Wednesday. Senator Jeff Merkley will also join the community for the inaugural flight from Portland to Klamath Falls. The group will participate in ribbon cutting ceremonies at the Portland Int’l Airport before returning in the afternoon for the local Klamath events.
“The community of Klamath Falls never wavered and the Crater Lake - Klamath Regional Airport worked around the clock to restore service for their residents. PenAir is pleased and excited to be the community’s partner in this new beginning”, says Dave Hall, the company’s COO. “PenAir realizes the need for dependable air service to Portland, OR from Klamath Falls and we plan to provide just that.”
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the inaugural flight from Portland to Klamath Falls to be held at the terminal building at approximately 2:20 p.m. Participating in the ribbon cutting and the remarks to follow will be Senator Merkley and Troy Ferguson from Representative Greg Walden’s office.In conjunction with the ribbon cutting ceremony, The Upper Deck Restaurant will be serving complimentary cake from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and there will be a drawing for 40,000 miles on Alaska Airlines and two round-trip tickets on PenAir.
