Broward County's FLL to Offer New Service to London on British Airways
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) has landed another "world class" airline which will serve London through Gatwick International Airport. British Airways, the United Kingdom's largest airline, will offer non-stop service with their Boeing 777-200 aircraft beginning in July.
"This announcement has reiterated FLL's status as an attractive, low-cost airport with a diverse portfolio of air service options. FLL is widely recognized as one of the fastest-growing "large hub" airports in the country," said Mark Gale, CEO/Director of Aviation. "British Airways decision to land at FLL illustrates the strength of this region and the incredible opportunities Broward County offers for tourism and business travelers."
British Airways service will complement our offerings to other international destinations in the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Latin America, Mexico and the Bahamas.
"It is a very exciting time for the destination with the recent announcement of several new international flight routes," said Stacy Ritter, president of Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The synergistic partnership of the CVB and FLL continues to elevate Greater Fort Lauderdale as a top choice for discerning travelers.
Colm Lacy, British Airways' head of commercial for Gatwick, said: "We are excited to be adding Fort Lauderdale to our network. As a city that boasts beautiful beaches, an international yachting scene and easy access to onward cruises, we believe British tourists will flock to experience everything it has to offer. We also believe the close proximity to Miami will give businesses and holidaymakers more choice and flexibility over their travel schedules."
FLL is currently undergoing a $2.3 billion Capital Improvement Program which includes a complete terminal makeover, new and expanded U.S. Customs facilities and a recently constructed South Runway.
