Westin Denver International Airport Celebrates First Anniversary

Nov. 18, 2016

In its first year of operation, the Westin Denver International Airport has exceeded preliminary performance expectations, garnered some of the top awards in the construction and hospitality industries and delighted more than 131,000 guests from around the world.

When the Westin opened at Denver International Airport (DEN) on Nov. 19, 2015, it signaled the completion of a longtime vision for an on-site hotel and a connected transit center that today connects the airport with downtown Denver via commuter rail service. The Westin includes 519 rooms, 35 luxury suites, a 37,500-square-foot conference center with 15 meeting rooms, two ballrooms and an 82,000-square-foot open-air plaza that connects the hotel with the airport’s iconic Jeppesen Terminal.

“In just one year, the Westin has become a sought after destination for business meetings, conferences and relaxation by passengers around the world,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “From the floor-to-ceiling glass walls to the ballrooms and boardrooms, passengers are experiencing Denver like never before via this new front door to the city. We are grateful to our partners at the Westin for an amazing first year, and we look forward to more successes to come as people continue to discover this incredible facility.”

“Denver International Airport has long been a major economic engine for the city,” Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “The addition of the Westin hotel, along with the rail connection to downtown, have been game changers for this already great facility and have enhanced our business opportunities and connectivity.”

“We couldn't be more thrilled to have met and exceeded our sales goals in nearly every category, from weddings to conferences, for the hotel in its inaugural year,” said Tom Curley, general manager of Westin Denver International Airport. “Our hotel offers a meeting and travel experience that is second to none, offering four diamond Westin amenities and world-class conference facilities just steps from DEN airport.”
