Interjet Launches New Service Between Mexico City and Chicago
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) welcomed Mexico-based, low-cost carrier Interjet to O'Hare International Airport on Nov. 17. Interjet now offers daily nonstop service between Mexico City and Chicago.
The Mexico City-Chicago route has two daily flights operated on Airbus A-320s with a 150-seat capacity.
The flights will have numerous connections to other destinations in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. Interjet flies to 37 destinations throughout Mexico from its hub at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), as well as to Columbia Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala and the United States.
"We are very pleased to welcome Interjet's new service to O'Hare International Airport," said Ginger S. Evans, CDA commissioner. "Interjet's service to Mexico City takes advantage of the new U.S.-Mexico air services agreement and offers O'Hare travelers more choices. It's not only great for our local economy, but these flights are also estimated to generate $45 million in annual economic impact for the Chicago region."
