O'Hare Airport Managers Deliver Gifts to Local Military Families

Dec. 8, 2016

Nearly 15 representatives from the O'Hare Airline Manager's Association (OAMA) joined several local organizations on Dec. 3 for a special Toys for Tots holiday celebration at Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD).

More than 60 local, under privileged families participated in the afternoon event that featured an appearance by U.S. Marines Life Flight and Stephenson County Sheriff's Department helicopters, as well as the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus direct from the North Pole via a UPS jet and distribution of holiday gifts.

The OAMA members prepared large size donation bags for the families and donated fuel for a helicopter to bring Marines to the event.

OAMA is a non-profit organization whose membership is comprised of more than 30 airport managers from airlines at O'Hare International Airport. The association was formed to discuss goals and concerns of airport stakeholders.

"This is the first year that we have participated in a holiday event," said Milton Giovanni Uribe, Area Airport Manager USA/Asia, Iberia Airlines. "We hope to become involved in a lot more events in the O'Hare area in 2017."

Currently celebrating its 69th year, Toys for Tots provides a message of hope to less fortunate children through the gift of a new toy or book during the holiday season.
