Montreal travellers no longer need to cross the border to feast on true U.S. Southern-style barbecue with the opening of Pork & Pickle at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s Domestic Terminal.
As travellers make their way through the terminal, they get a whiff of sizzling, mouth-watering wood-smoked barbecue – a smell that triggers personal memories of outdoor picnics with all the fixings and summer time fun with family and friends.
HMSHost brought the comforting tastes and smells of barbeque to travellers with its exclusive gastropub and BBQ restaurant, Pork & Pickle. Pork & Pickle at Montréal-Trudeau runs a custom all-natural wood fire smoker 24/7 to keep up with the food demands of hungry airport travellers. Pork & Pickle is one of the rare restaurants in an airport that smokes meats on-site to give guests an authentic wood-smoked barbecue experience. The custom-made smoker facilitates all the smoking of the succulent meats featured on the menu – from breakfast sausage to chicken wings to beef brisket.
“We are thrilled to bring this HMSHost exclusive restaurant concept to Montreal travellers, offering them authentic Southern-style barbecue in a great atmosphere,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas. “Through our partnership with Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Pork & Pickle’s opening further enhances and showcases the airport’s recent dining upgrades.”
“The new Pork & Pickle restaurant opened very recently but is already a hit for our passengers,” said Charles A Gratton, vice-president, real estate and commercial services, with Aéroports de Montréal. “This new restaurant, part of our recently revamped commercial offering in the domestic area, provides our passengers with a unique combination of southern-style and typical Montreal flavours, and delights smoked on-site in our very own low temperature food smoker, quite a rarity in an Airport environment.”
Pork & Pickle’s menu emphasizes high-quality, barbecue and a wide selection of local and craft beers to match. Montréal-Trudeau travellers can choose from locally inspired favourites with a BBQ spin, such as the Plate Smoked Brisket Poutine with cheese curds and gravy, or the hearty Montreal Style Smoked Meat which is piled high on rye with mustard. They’ll also find savoury traditional fare cooked to perfection such as the flavour packed smoked pork spare ribs, a Cobb salad, and twists such as ‘Dirty Chips’ made with BBQ trimmings. Draft beers from Québec and other local Canadian breweries offer the perfect beverage pairing.
While dining on Pork & Pickle’s premium food and drinks, travellers can relax by the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the tarmac in an updated, classic pub environment that reflects a mix of French country side bistro and a southern smokehouse atmosphere. The rustic back bar and reclaimed woods throughout provide a warm welcome.
This restaurant opening at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport marks HMSHost’s third Pork & Pickle, with the first two locations at Kansas City International Airport and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
