Southwest Airlines Announces New Spokane to San Diego Service
Spokane International Airport (GEG) announced Jan. 5, that Southwest Airlines will begin providing daily, Monday through Friday, nonstop service to San Diego International Airport on June 4, with a 143-seat Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The new Spokane-San Diego service will connect to Southwest flights to Albuquerque, Atlanta, Denver, Houston-Hobby, Nashville, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Chicago-Midway, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Antonio, and Tucson. At this time the service is scheduled to operate seasonally through the summer months, concluding Aug. 14.
Collins Sprague, chairman, Spokane Airport Board stated, “We are very pleased that Southwest Airlines has recognized the strong business and leisure travel demand between the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene Region and San Diego market. Not only is there strong demand for travel to San Diego, but also to the ten destinations across the country to which this flight will connect. San Diego is an important strategic market for Spokane International Airport and the region. Southwest is giving our local travelers a chance to prove our belief that this route will warrant being converted to year round service,” concluded Sprague.
