Aeroplex/Aerolease CEO Curt Castagna appointed to L.A. County Airport Commission
Curt Castagna, president and CEO of the Aeroplex/Aerolease Group has been appointed to the Los Angeles County Airport Commission following his nomination by Supervisor Janice Hahn to represent the fourth district.
The 10-member Commission serves to advise the County Board of Supervisors regarding the operation and development of the County's five-airport system. The airports include Brackett Field Airport in La Verne, Compton/Woodley Airport in Compton, San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte, General William J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster and Whiteman Airport in Pacoima. Combined, they encompass 1,750 acres and 30,460 linear feet (5.8 miles) of runway, are home to over 1,500 general aviation aircraft and over 60 privately-owned aviation businesses, and accommodate more than 400,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings each year.
“I would like to express my appreciation to Supervisor Hahn for allowing me the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the airports serving the diverse aviation needs of the County of Los Angeles,” Castagna said. “I look forward to collaborating with industry, business and community leaders to ensure the County airports are operated safely, securely and efficiently.”
Offering more than 35 years of diverse industry experience, Castagna oversees aviation and business aircraft centers located at the Long Beach Airport (LGB) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). He has directed the complete development, construction, management, leasing and service of many complex projects. He also serves on the board of directors for the National Air Transportation Association and is an active member of the American Association of Airport Executives. He is president of both the LGB and VNY tenant associations. An adjunct professor at California State University, Los Angeles, Castagna has instructed courses in aviation administration for over 23 years. He is an aircraft owner and licensed private, instrument and commercial rated pilot.
