AAAE's Airport TNC System Successfully Operating at World's Busiest Airport
The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) announced that its ABT Clearinghouse, with more than 18 months of operations as the first of its kind web-based system proven to successfully manage transportation network companies’ (TNC) operations and revenue, has processed more than 1.1 million TNC trips at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) since launching there in January.
The ABT Clearinghouse, which was developed in partnership with San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and is available to airports nationwide, tracks TNC vehicles – such as Uber and Lyft – in the airport environment for fee calculation and reconciliation, roadway planning, and curbside enforcement efforts that benefit the airport and its passengers.
By using the ABT Clearinghouse, ATL – the busiest airport in the world – joins SFO and multiple other airports across the country in a cutting-edge solution that helps airports manage the challenges associated with the growing demand for TNC services.
“The ABT Clearinghouse has proven to be an outstanding tool to ensure that revenue owed to airports as a result of customers having enhanced ground transportation choices is accurately tracked and seamlessly transferred in a timely fashion,” said AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli. “The results in Atlanta, the busiest airport in the world, have been extremely positive and we are excited about the accelerated adoption rate of airports utilizing this innovative solution that maximizes airport revenues while minimizing their recovery costs. AAAE is proud to be of service to our members as the ground transportation industry undergoes transformation.”
“Simply put: AAAE's innovative reporting capabilities are a primary reason for Lyft's success at Hartsfield-Jackson International,” said Bakari Brock, Senior Director of U.S. Operations for Lyft. “AAAE's technological integration has been an enormous benefit for a company such as Lyft entering into airport agreements that demand accurate and reliable data reporting. Lyft's relationship with AAAE is among our most valued and we look forward to maintaining this mutually beneficial partnership with Atlanta's airport and AAAE for years to come.”
ATL has been the busiest airport in the world as measured by passenger traffic for the last 19 years. The airport had more than 104 million total passengers in 2016.
The ABT Clearinghouse accommodates the exponential growth in TNC services and continues to successfully process millions of trips at participating airports nationwide.
AAAE provides the ABT Clearinghouse service for Uber, Lyft, Wingz and other TNC providers. The ABT Clearinghouse tracks TNC transactions within a designated GPS “geo-fence” area that alerts the airport operator when a drop-off or pick-up occurs and whenever a driver enters or leaves the designated area.
