Indhira Figuereo, vice president and head of the Northeast aviation practice at WSP USA, will participate in a panel discussion on airport development as part a Transportation Construction and Design Conference to be held on June 15, at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.
One in a series of conferences sponsored by the Commercial Observer, the Planes, Trains and Urban Infrastructure Conference highlights the current construction boom in New York City and the area’s need for modern and expanded transportation infrastructure and modernized airports.
The panel in which Figuereo will participate, “Airport Development – Transforming the Region’s Airports for the Future,” will address projects currently under way to modernize and enhance operations and the passenger experience at the New York metropolitan region’s three major airports as well as additional steps that need to be taken to maintain state-of-the-art airport facilities well into the future.
“With work on the new Central Terminal at LaGuardia now under way and major modernization plans in the works for JFK and Newark-Liberty International airports, we are seeing billions of dollars in capital investments being made to provide world-class facilities for the traveling public,” said Figuereo. “By engaging the private sector in the airport development process, New York is leveraging its resources to be able to make the considerable capital investments needed over the next decade and beyond.”
Figuereo has extensive experience as a project manager, program/construction manager and civil engineer for aviation facilities throughout the Northeast. She has managed major projects at LaGuardia Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark-Liberty International Airport, and Westchester County Airport.
