SJC Reaches Seven-Figure Monthly Passenger Count

June 16, 2017

Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) served more than 1 million travelers in May, a significant milestone as SJC last reached a seven-figure monthly passenger count in 2007. The traffic figures also reflect a 17 percent increase, with 1,060,412 passengers served in May from 906,070 in May 2016. This significant growth is expected to continue through year-end 2017 based upon SJC airlines’ published flight schedules.

With airlines adding numerous new nonstop domestic and international destinations, and frequency to/from many more cities, Silicon Valley business and leisure travelers more and more are choosing Silicon Valley’s airport for their travel plans.

“Reaching and exceeding 1 million passengers served in May 2017 marks a significant achievement for SJC airlines, our thousands of Airport employees, and the local community we serve,” said San Jose Interim Director of Aviation John Aitken. “This milestone combined with the incredible 17 percent passenger growth year-over-year reflects the commitment and support of all our partners in offering and supporting a growing list of nonstop cities and frequencies from Silicon Valley.”
