JE Dunn Construction Completes Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Escalator Corridor Improvements
The JE Dunn Aviation Group has completed Phase 3 of improvements to the escalator corridor that takes arriving domestic passengers from the plane train mall to the baggage claim area at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The $2.4 million project involved replacing mirrored walls flanking the escalator with sheetrock walls featuring painted reveals to add architectural detail, as well as replacing the longstanding “Spirit of Atlanta” mural at the top of the escalator with a giant LED video wall with directional airline signage. Improvements also included new lighting and freshly painted walls and ceiling.
Efficient passenger movement was maintained throughout the project by intermittently directing passengers along revised routes.
The renovation was the third phase of the escalator corridor improvements known as the West Crossover Project, part of Hartsfield-Jackson’s 20-year, $6 billion capital expansion program for accommodating growth.
Dunn Aviation Group, a joint venture, comprises JE Dunn Construction; ENVIRO AgScience, Inc. and Southeastern Engineering, Inc.
The Hartsfield-Jackson Aviation Design Collaborative is the project architect of record.
