Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) announced Aug. 22, four times weekly service from Icelandair to Reykjavik, Iceland starting in May.
“I want to thank Icelandair for their announcement to begin services from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “This is the first global airline to select Cleveland as a base, and it is a clear indication of the growing interest in our city as an international business and tourist destination.”
“Icelandair brings great service and a global reach which is a big win for the corporate community in Cleveland looking to do business in Europe and beyond,” said Airport Director Robert Kennedy. “We are pleased they see the potential of the Cleveland market and put transatlantic service back in the Northeast Ohio.”
“Cleveland is the perfect destination for our route network. We are happy to be the first carrier to provide service to Europe in 8 years. This addition also strengthens our route network and bridges Europe and Cleveland together by providing direct service to Iceland in addition to quick and convenient connections to 30 destinations in Europe,” says Icelandair CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason.
Icelandair offers connections to more than 25 destinations in Europe which will be available through the airlines hub in Iceland. Icelandair is a leading airline offering flights to and from Iceland, and an attractive option for cross-Atlantic flights. They provide safe, reliable flights and exceptional service on flights to metropolitan areas on both sides of the Atlantic. The airline operates out of Iceland, and uses the country's geographical location mid-way between America and Europe, as an opportunity to build an ever-growing network of international routes with Iceland as a hub.
