Tulsa International Airport Completes $30 Million Parking Garage Expansion

Tulsa International Airport officially completed its parking garage expansion project earlier this month that results in an additional 500 new garage spaces for airport customers.

The project included updates to an existing parking structure located directly in front of the terminal and features a new 180,000-square-foot third level parking deck, four new vehicle ramps, three pedestrian towers with elevators and stairwells, three tensile fabric pedestrian crosswalk canopies, the remodel of two pedestrian tunnels leading to the terminal, and new traffic signs throughout.

“Expanding our garage parking capacity directly improves the satisfaction of our customers,” said Mark VanLoh, CEO of Tulsa International Airport. “Not only have we updated the structure itself, providing travelers with more parking spaces and rental car customers with direct access steps from the terminal, we’re continuing to build our most critical revenue stream. It’s truly a win-win outcome for all parties.”

The total cost of the project - $30,114,980.70 - includes design, construction, and project management services and was funded predominantly by customer facility charges that are paid by rental car customers when they rent a car at the airport. Rental car companies have moved to the second level of the garage, providing their customers with easy access directly across from the main entrance of the terminal.

All three levels of the parking garage structure are open for travelers, with rental cars occupying half of the second level. Short-term (hourly) parking is located on the third level, with elevator and stair access to the terminal. The airport is currently evaluating the feasibility of adding canopies to the third level in order to provide cover for travelers in inclement weather.
