Tucson International Airport Supports Diversity
Renewed efforts by the Tucson Airport Authority to support and promote diversity in its economic development efforts have been recognized by two statewide organizations.
On Nov. 3, TAA was formally inducted by the Phoenix Minority Business Development Agency Business Center and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce into the prestigious Arizona Million Dollar Circle of Excellence during the 2017 Business Diversity Summit.
Veronica Ruiz-Ronquillo, Compliance Administrator /Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Liaison Officer for TAA, accepted the honor on behalf of the TAA team which was recognized for exceptional efforts in the area of supplier diversity by spending over $1 million in Arizona with Minority/Women-owned businesses. TAA is part of an elite group of inductees this year including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Department of Transportation, Bank of America, Pepsico, Walmart, Wells Fargo, and others.
Additionally, TAA was recognized by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) on November 8 with the 2017 ADOT Community Supporter Champion Award for their partnering efforts and positive contributions to diversity and growth in the transportation industry.
Ruiz-Ronquillo attended and presented at the 2017 ADOT DBE and Small Business Conference held in Tucson and received the ADOT award on TAA’s behalf. TAA was one of just a handful of statewide organizations recognized by ADOT at the event.
“We are humbled to have received these prestigious awards from the Phoenix MBDA Business Center, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and ADOT and will continue supporting our community and its diverse business leaders together as we work to strengthen economic opportunities for our region,” shared Ruiz-Ronquillo.
