Bulgari and Heathrow Bring Italian Design and the Glamour of Rome to Terminal 5

Dec. 5, 2017

The successful collaboration between the Italian luxury brand Bulgari the global travel retailer Dufry and Heathrow Airport has gone one-step further with the recent opening of a new Pop-up store in Heathrow Terminal 5. This Pop-up dedicated to Jewellery, Watches and Leather Goods enriches the luxury shopping experience in the terminal and offers another opportunity to discover Bulgari’s latest iconic releases.

Sparkling with Italian creativity and the glamour of Rome, a Bulgari jewel is immediately recognisable for sensual volumes, vivid gemstones, audacious materials, extravagant colour juxtapositions and a strong architectural character originating from its Roman roots. In the newly opened store, the Mediterranean origins and Italian touch pervade the 25 sqm selling space, creating a virtual journey in a street of the eternal city, that feels like time travel through 2700 years of Roman inspiration. The dominant idea is to utilize ancient marbles and stones typical of Roman buildings and to express them in a classic geometry open to modern interpretation, creating a continuous interplay between innovation and tradition.

Roberto Marino, travel retail director of sales and marketing at Bulgari says, “We are proud to offer travelers a unique experience at the crossroads between past and present. By entering our store, the clients are not only transported through our Roman heritage, but also have the opportunity to discover the best expressions of contemporary and timeless icons : the seductive Serpenti Collection, dating back to ancient Roman mythology or Divas’ Dream, exalting the essence of Italian femininity and inspired by the sophisticated mosaics of ancient Rome. As a tribute to the Italian elegance combined with Swiss watch expertise, Bulgari is delighted to showcase in Heathrow the newly awarded best Men’s Watch as judged at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève: the Octo Finissimo Automatic watch, that is the world’s thinness timepiece.”

The Men’s Watch Award for the Octo Finissimo Automatic – launched at Baselworld 2017 – is the third world record-breaking icon successively presented by Bulgari. It is to date the thinnest self-winding watch on the market measuring just 5.15mm thick, 40mm in diameter and housing a 2.23mm self-winding movement. The iconic Octo is once again pushing the boundaries of feasibility.

Chris Annetts, Heathrow’s retail and service director said, “Bulgari have brought a truly eye catching and exciting design to their pop up space. Bulgari is hugely popular with passengers across the globe so we are really pleased to be able to bring them even more beautiful goods to enhance their shopping experience.”
