Kansas City International Airport Passenger Traffic Increases Three Percent in November

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 954,232 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in November, a 3.0 percent increase from November 2016. Passenger boardings were up 3.2 percent, with a total of 478,360 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 10,589,100, up 4.4 percent. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 4,287,711, up 4.3 percent.

“November’s passenger gains are a clear indicator the demand for travel to and from the region,” said Kansas City Director of Aviation Pat Klein. “2017 has a possibility of finishing as the third busiest year in KCI airport history.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 4.5 percent in November with a total of 18.1 million pounds handled. Year to date, 188.1 million pounds have been handled, down 1.1 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during November amounted to 17.2 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 3.7 percent. Year to date, air freight is down 2.5 percent with a total of 179.7 million pounds handled. Air mail for November was up 24.8 percent from November 2016 with 815,718 pounds handled. Air mail is up 42.4 percent year to date with 8.4 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for November 2017 was 169. Service was offered to 47 nonstop markets. There was an average of 38,882 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 7 daily departures for November.
