ILM Soars to Achieve a New Passenger Record
The Wilmington International Airport (ILM) once again saw an increase in travel in 2017; setting passenger records two years in a row. During the calendar year 2017, there were 420,571 enplanements and 416,018 deplanements at ILM; totaling 836,589 passengers.
ILM saw an increase in demand during the spring months, overlapping with the PGA golf tournament, as well as in October.
“We are pleased to have another record setting year at ILM and look forward to continued growth in 2018.” stated Julie Wilsey, airport director.
The ILM team and community have a lot to look forward to. Beginning in 2018, there will be service between ILM and 8 non-stop destinations; including 7 hubs and 6 international gateways. ILM recently announced United Airlines will begin non-stop service between ILM and Chicago, as well as between ILM and Washington-Dulles. The new service starts April 9th. American Airlines is also expanding service at ILM in 2018, with non-stop service between ILM and Washington-National as well as seasonal service between ILM and Chicago O'Hare as well as ILM and Dallas Fort Worth.
