Another Year of Growth at Skyxe Saskatoon Airport
2017 was the second highest year ever for passengers at Skyxe Saskatoon Airport. With 1,462,751 passengers coming through our doors in 2017, Skyxe saw a 0.7 percent increase in passengers over 2016 and is only -1.4 percent behind the record year of 2014.
As a community-driven and guest-focused business, we were re-branded as Skyxe in 2016 to strategically align and differentiate our identity. We are extremely proud of Skyxe’s success in collaborating with all of our partners to deliver valued air service options, on time departures and a high level of service quality.
Air service is an important economic driver for our community representing 8,026 jobs annually and $1.05 billion in economic impact (2017, RP Erickson & Associates). The top 3 most popular destinations served by non-stop scheduled flights were Calgary, Toronto, and Edmonton. The valued non-stop scheduled flights to Minneapolis continued to offer year-round access to a key Delta hub which offers worldwide connections.
Ensuring that our guests depart on time (within 15 minutes of schedule) for their destination is an important focus for Skyxe. The Airport achieved the #1 ranking in Canada for On Time Performance in 2017 (OAG Flightview).
Finally, the service quality experienced by our guests is also a strategic priority and measured by our full participation in the Airports Council International-Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program. “Following our 2015 award for the Most Improved Small Airport in North America, Skyxe was recognized this March as the Best Small Airport in North America in 2016. We share this honour with our people, partners and the community as a whole,” says Stephen Maybury, President and CEO of Skyxe Saskatoon Airport.
