Oakland International Airport Traffic Up 5.3% in February

Oakland International Airport (OAK) reports 849,529 airline passengers for the month of February, a 5.3 percent increase over February 2017.   Total airline seat capacity of 1,187,141 increased 4.7 percent over last year and the load factor of 75.4 percent increased by 0.4 percent over last year.

Passenger volume on domestic U.S. routes of 843,363 million increased 3.4 percent, while passenger volume on international routes of 51,166 increased by 49 percent over last year. 

International service continues to expand at OAK with the February launch of Norwegian Air’s nonstop service to Rome, and upcoming April launch of nonstop Paris service. Domestically, Southwest will begin new service to Orlando, San Antonio, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis-St. Paul this year, while American Airlines will begin nonstop service to Dallas-Fort Worth next week.

Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, Bryant L. Francis said, "The ongoing trend of increasing passenger traffic continues to strengthen OAK’s presence as a major air gateway for residents of the greater San Francisco Bay area, and now for travelers abroad looking to visit Northern California for business and leisure. We are working diligently to meet the demands of our growing customer base, and are pleased that more travelers are choosing to Fly the East Bay Way."
