Allegiant Launches Oakland to Memphis Flights
Oakland International Airport (OAK) announced on May 30, that Allegiant Air has launched nonstop service between Oakland and Memphis, Tennessee. Today is the first day of the seasonal summer service, which flies on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is the only nonstop flight between the San Francisco Bay Area and Memphis.
“We are very pleased to welcome new nonstop service between Oakland and Memphis today,” said Bryant L. Francis, director of aviation for the Port of Oakland. “This expansion is an example of the great partnership we enjoy with Allegiant, and represents service to a market unserved within the Bay Area until now. Memphis is a wonderful new travel option for Bay Area residents as well as for those in Western Tennessee and surrounding states who are looking to travel to the Bay Area with ease this summer and beyond.”
“We are excited to continue our growth in the Bay Area with this new nonstop service to Memphis, our easternmost nonstop from Oakland,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue. “From BBQ to Beale Street, we know everyone will enjoy having a convenient, affordable option for a summer getaway.”
Airport and airline officials indicate the new route is expected to attract approximately 5,000 travelers (one way) during the summer season between Oakland and Memphis, which capitalizes on Allegiant’s specialization in full-service packages for every travel budget.
