Winners of Van Nuys Airport Friendly Flyer Program Honored at Awards Ceremony
Forty jet operators were honored by Van Nuys Airport (VNY) at the sixth annual Friendly Flyer noise-abatement awards ceremony and luncheon held at the Airtel Plaza Hotel. The awards program honored jet operators and pilots with Friendly Flyer awards, acknowledging those who have the highest level of success in adhering to the Fly Friendly/Quiet Departure Programs, and who also follow all other noise abatement policies and procedures.
This year’s Friendly Flyer legacy winners, which means they have won each year since the program began, include Clay Lacy Aviation; Dreamline Aviation, LLC; Flexjet; Flight Options; JetSuite; NetJets; Tutor-Saliba Corporation; West Coast Charters, LLC; and XOJET, Inc. A full list of winners is available here .
“We are very pleased that this year we have increased the number of Friendly Flyers to 40 from 34 last year. The results of the program continue to achieve measurable noise reduction at and around Van Nuys Airport,” said Jeffery Daar, member, Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners. “We congratulate and thank each of our award recipients for their commitment to quiet flying practices, which reduces noise and enhances the quality of life in our neighboring communities.”
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) considers noise compatibility to be a high-priority, continuing process. Over many decades of effort, it has established an extensive noise management program at VNY. The program – and LAWA’s commitment to its implementation and improvement – is widely recognized for its innovation and benefits. With changes in fleet mix, amount of new aircraft operators and new aircraft types operating into and out of VNY, the voluntary Friendly Flyer program is regularly updated to include new target noise levels and to expand the number of aircraft included in the program.
"Van Nuys Airport is committed to being a good neighbor, and each year we work in close collaboration with our jet aircraft owners, operators and pilots, and airport and aviation tenants to achieve meaningful improvements and appreciate their efforts,” said Flora Margheritis, Van Nuys Airport manager.
