Hartsfield-Jackson Receives Airport Efficiency Excellence Award
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) was recently honored as the world’s most efficient airport for the 15th year.
Air Transport Research Society (ATRS), the world’s leading academic society in the air transportation industry, has a Global Airport Benchmarking Task Force. The task force performed a year-long research study, and based on the 2016 financial year data, ATL was awarded the 2018 ATRS Airport Efficiency Excellence Award.
“This global recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of team ATL, our stakeholders and partners at the local, state and federal levels,” said Balram Bheodari, interim General Manager.
ATRS reviewed the productivity and efficiency of more than 200 airports in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Oceania, and based its top award on factors such as passenger and cargo traffic plane movements, flight bookings, landing fees and terminal charges, and percentage of airport revenue generated from non-aviation services.
“Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is an economic jewel to the region, the nation and the world,” said Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “Our exceptional aviation professionals strive every day to provide safe, efficient travel for our guests, and this award proves that we are exceeding our own stringent expectations. While we are honored to once again receive this award, we will continue to maintain and surpass our stated mission to be the most efficient airport in the world.”
The ATRS Airport Benchmarking Task Force is comprised of leading professors and researchers from around the world. Since 2002, ATRS has presented its Airport Benchmarking Awards.
