WSA Co. has appointed Stevan Sipka to the role of executive manager, aero partnerships. With over 23 years of airline experience, Sipka will be responsible for the development and implementation of WSA Co’s aero commercial strategy.
“Being born and bred locally, the opportunity to bring my airline industry experience to this project that will be the catalyst for socio-economic change in Western Sydney was highly appealing,” said Sipka.
Sipka most recently held the role of VP Asia Pacific for Air Serbia. With extensive experience across revenue management, commercial sales, network planning, alliances and strategic planning, he spent 17 years with Qantas, before taking on the role of General Manager, Revenue Planning with Virgin Australia in 2012.
In his role with WSA Co, Sipka will develop aero relationships, acting as the primary liaison with airlines looking to expand their services and access the growing population of Western Sydney.
“I’m looking forward to working with airlines as they develop their strategies into and within Australia,” commented Sipka. “Western Sydney Airport will deliver much needed aviation capacity to the Sydney basin, bringing new opportunities to airlines who are currently operating in Australia, and those looking to expand their services to include Australian routes. This is an exciting time to be part of one of the biggest growth stories in recent Australian history, and I know many airlines are already looking at the enormous population growth expected in Western Sydney, and the new business opportunities this will bring.”
Sipka, who started with WSA Co this week, holds a Bachelor and Master of Economics from Macquarie University, Sydney. Since 2016, he has also been lecturing at the University of NSW, School of Aviation.
