WI: MKE Passenger Traffic Soars Nearly 6% in July

Aug. 28, 2018

Airlines continue to draw more travelers to Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE), as passenger traffic increased nearly six percent in July, compared to the previous year.

According to the latest statistics released by the Airport, 665,311 passengers used MKE in July, up 5.9 percent from July of 2017.

Several airlines are responsible for this summer’s growth at MKE: Southwest Airlines added nearly 27,000 passengers in July, the most of any carrier, while Allegiant offered new service to Florida. Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines increased seats to Seattle, and Delta added nonstop flights to Salt Lake City.

“More flights, more airlines, and larger aircraft all mean passengers have a better experience at MKE,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “Travelers from across Wisconsin and northern Illinois know that MKE is the most convenient, affordable airport for their needs.”
