Contour Airlines to Begin Nonstop Service from San Luis Obispo County Airport

June 28, 2019

Contour Airlines joined the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport and Visit SLO CAL in announcing new nonstop service from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas. The airline will begin flying four times per week starting October 17, 2019.

This will be the Contour’s first time in San Luis Obispo. Founded in 1982, Contour operates in 10 states, offering a premium, low-fare airline product that includes a complimentary first checked bag as well as snack and beverage service. The airline already flies in several cities across California, including Santa Barbara and Oakland.

“Las Vegas has been a tremendously successful market for Contour and I am certain our new service to San Luis Obispo will be no different,” said Matt Chaifetz, Chief Executive Officer. “Our new nonstop flights will make it easy, comfortable and affordable to travel between these two world class destinations.”

“The San Luis Obispo community has asked for direct access to Las Vegas for years, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to deliver,” said Kevin Bumen, Airport Director. “Adding a new destination, as well as a new airline, is an incredible success for the entire region. We’re excited to continue helping our travelers get anywhere they want to go, right from their hometown airport.”

The flights will be offered four times per week, on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. The quick 80-minute flight is scheduled to leave Las Vegas mid-morning and return from San Luis Obispo in the early afternoon. To celebrate the new service, Contour will offer introductory fares starting at $99 one way.

“This partnership with Contour Airlines will provide a great airline experience for guests seeking to explore destinations in SLO CAL,” said Chuck Davison, President and CEO of Visit SLO CAL. “Las

Vegas has been a key market for Visit SLO CAL since the Tourism Marketing District launched four years ago. It continues to show demand opportunity to attract new visitors looking for outdoor adventure, food, and wine experiences and a slower pace of life, while supporting local business development, and giving us access to a large selection of one-stop markets.”

Adam Hill, Supervisor for the County’s 3rd district, which encompasses the airport, said, “We are very excited to be adding another new flight for our community. As we know from the recent economic impact study, our airport’s success has been a prime driver of economic success, and it has also made us an increasingly popular destination.”

Contour will operate 30-seat Embraer ERJ-135 aircraft between the two cities, featuring all leather seating with expanded legroom, complimentary snacks and beverages, and a free checked bag included with every fare.
