June Kansas City International Airport Freight Totals Up

Aviation department reports that 1,116,346 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in June, a 0.9 percent decrease from June 2018.

Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 1,116,346 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in June, a 0.9 percent decrease from June 2018. Passenger boardings were down 1.1 percent, with a total of 555,272 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 5,766,832, up 0.6 percent. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 2,891,099, up 0.4 percent. “Last month marked the seventh-busiest month in the airport’s history 46-year history,” said Pat Klein, Kansas City director of aviation. “I appreciate the hard work of Aviation Department staff during these peak travel summer months.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI, were up 0.5 percent in June with a total of 18 million pounds handled. Year to date, 106 million pounds of air cargo have been handled, up 1.6 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during June amounted to 17.5 million pounds, which is up 1.1 percent since June 2018. Year to date, air freight is up 2.2 percent with a total of 102 million pounds handled. Air mail for June was down 15.3 percent from June 2018 with 484,716 pounds handled. Air mail is down 14.5 percent year to date with 3.2 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for June 2019 was 173. Service was offered to 52 nonstop markets. There was an average of 42,785 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 5.4 daily arrivals for June.
