July Kansas City International Airport Passenger Totals Up

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that 1,130,646 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in July, a 0.5 percent increase from July 2018. Passenger boardings were up 0.3 percent, with a total of 567,073 boarded. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 6,897,478, up 0.6 percent. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 3,458,172, up 0.4 percent. “Last month was the second-busiest July in our airport’s history,” said Pat Klein, Kansas City director of aviation. “We’re thankful for the nonstop service our airline partners provide to more than 50 destinations.”

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI, were up 2.7 percent in July with a total of 17.5 million pounds handled. Year to date, 123 million pounds of air cargo have been handled, up 1.8 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during July amounted to 17.1 million pounds, which is up 4.0 percent since July 2018. Year to date, air freight is up 2.4 percent with a total of 119.4 million pounds handled. Air mail for July was down 32 percent from July 2018 with 398, pounds handled. Air mail is down 16.8 percent year to date with 3.6 million pounds handled.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for July 2019 was 173. Service was offered to 52 nonstop markets. There was an average of 42,882 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 5.5 daily arrivals for July.
