BWI Marshall Airport to Host the AMAC Economic Opportunity and Policy Forum
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport) will host the Airport Minority Advisory Council’s (AMAC) Economic Opportunity and Policy Forum from Sep. 11 – 12, during Congressional Black Caucus Week. The forum will be held at the Washington Marriott Metro Center in downtown Washington, DC.
The Economic Opportunity and Policy Forum will feature presentations related to airport economic opportunities and AMAC’s federal legislative agenda. The forum will include panel discussions and a networking reception that will allow attendees to engage with policymakers regarding the aviation industry and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program. Additionally, the forum will be hosted by BET Award Winning Journalist, Jeff Johnson. Jeff is a master communicator, strategist and architect of social solutions. He has conducted interviews with President Barack Obama and provides regular content on the nationally syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show. He has also served as National Director for the Youth & College Division of the NAACP and held an appointment by Russell Simmons as the Vice President of the Hip Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN).
“We look forward to welcoming aviation leaders from across the industry and around the country,” said Ricky Smith, executive director of BWI Marshall Airport. “The forum will provide outstanding insight and fresh information to key airport, government, and business professionals. AMAC plays an important leadership role in supporting the development of minority and women-owned businesses in the aviation sector.”
“This is a key opportunity for both AMAC and BWI Marshall Airport stakeholders alike to stand for economic inclusivity in our industry,” said Anthony Barnes, Chief Operating Officer of AMAC. “We look forward to continuing to be at the forefront for policy initiatives impacting our industries.”
