Vane Research identifies 87 North American airports that have implemented Therapy Dog Programs to enhance the passenger journey and experience.

The first of its kind study demonstrates how and why therapy dogs at airports have become widely-offered and firmly entrenched services to assuage inherent travel anxieties.

The report presents an in-depth assessment of airports with a focus on three areas: 1. Program design 2. Communication and customer experience and 3. Customer Feedback.

"We are thrilled to launch the first of its kind airport therapy dog study," said Cristina Alcivar, Vane Airport Medias, founder. "When we look at the growth of therapy dog programs in Canada from 2015 with the first program starting at Edmonton International Airport we have seen the growth of 183% in Canadian programs and 129 percent in the US since that time. The adoption rate in Canada is double of the US.”

“Therapy dogs are the latest Wellness Trend at airports. Therapy dogs give a sense of wellbeing to travelers and leave them feeling better than when they arrived; less anxious, more relaxed and in a happier state of mind. Not all travel is for pleasure. The dogs comfort people traveling to funerals, as well as soldiers leaving home. They also support people stricken with anxiety over TSA security screenings”, said Alcivar.
