Saskatoon, SK: The health, safety, and security of all of our partners is our highest priority. Skyxe believes that preventative measures are key to navigating through this issue.
With the community’s best interests at the forefront, Skyxe believes that a temporary ‘pause’ of our highly regarded volunteer programs is an important step. We respectfully ‘paused’ all Ambassador volunteer activities as of March 13, 2020 and our Dog Therapy program as of Mar. 16.
We have activated contingency cleaning measures to the highest level with our partners, including the utilization of higher-grade cleaning products and supplementary cleaning and sanitizing of our highest touch-points such as handrails, kiosks, and armrests. Our heightened cleaning plan for the terminal quadruples our standard cleaning protocols and continues to utilize high-grade cleaning products; ensuring the airport remains a safe place to visit. We have placed hand sanitizers at all of our check-in desks, gates, info desk, ValetXE desk, and Saskatoon Shine booth for guest and airport employee use.
We will be temporarily suspending the ValetXE product in an effort to reduce touchpoints and airport tenants will be amending operating hours as airport traffic patterns change.
Our partners at the Canada Boarder Services Agency (CBSA) have had enhanced screening measures in place at Skyxe, and all other major Canadian airports, since earlier this year, which includes additional screening questions in an effort to identify potential travellers that may have been exposed. If a passenger is identified, they are being asked to report themselves to the Saskatchewan Health Authority and self-isolate. Anyone who has travelled outside of Canada is recommended to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return. Signage to this effect is posted in domestic and international arrivals areas, as well as other strategic locations in the terminal building.
The Government of Canada has advised all Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel outside the country. Travelers are asked to consult travel.gc.ca for the latest travel advice from the Government of Canada. The Government of Canada will be closing the country’s borders to anyone not a citizen or a permanent resident. Prime Minister Trudeau’s announcement regarding limiting the number of airports accepting international flights does not impact the Saskatoon Airport. Only overseas flights will be restricted to Toronto Pearson, Montreal Trudeau, Vancouver and Calgary. This consolidation does not apply to flights to/from the U.S., Mexico and sun destinations, which will still be able to land at their scheduled airport.
